I first became acquainted with this scene almost exactly 5 years before I made this image. I was cold, really cold and the only thing on my mind was finding some sunshine to thaw myself. I was in survival mode and didn't even pause to take a photograph. This place is only reachable by rappelling and swimming through nearly ice cold water. This I was unprepared and the record rains that year had made the painful swims that much longer. This time around I had a wetsuit, I had neoprene gloves and mentally I knew what to expect. I took my time composing this shot and just experiencing the scene that I raced past 5 years ago, amazed that the same long still stands somewhat precariously in the canyon despite so many flash floods throughout the years.

As a Utah native, Dustin LeFevre spent his childhood exploring and developing a deep appreciation for nature. He spends his free time exploring the beautiful and diverse landscapes of the West. Chasing sunsets and sunrises, he hopes to capture not just what is in front of his lens, but also the way it makes him feel. He hopes his images will help inspire the same appreciation of nature and desire to explore in others.
